Royal Road of Guane
Built to connect the Magdalena River with the towns in the southern part of the department, many of the old royal roads are still in good condition and offer spectacular walks. The most well-known section is the charming path that connects the town of Barichara with the village of Guane. It is approximately 6 km long and takes about 2 hours to hike. We recommend doing it early in the morning or late in the afternoon to avoid the high temperatures, using sunscreen, and bringing plenty of water.
Once in Guane, visit its small archaeological museum and viewpoint. You can return on foot, by bus, or by tuk-tuk.

Royal Road of Cabrera
This is a slightly more demanding road that connects the rural area of Barichara with the municipality of Cabrera.
The route is about 8 km long and can take you about 3 hours from the start of the trail.
You must walk back as there is no public transport to return to Barichara.
